Where is my terrain data

When I copy myterrain.asset from one project to another, none of the data associated with the terrain shows up. All splat maps are null. I need to know where to get the terrain data I need to copy so this will work. Yes, I can export a package and import it, but that does not solve the problem I am trying to solve, which is part of my source control/build environment and uses symlinks. Since the terrain symlink failed I tried a copy and that also failed, hence my question (assuming if the copy will work the symlink will). IS there a way to copy the terrain such that the data travels with it? I've read the first 15 of the 33 pages of references to terrain data and not yet found the answer to where it is stored on disk. I do so wish the whole terrain design weren't quite so obfuscated. Black boxes are nice and all, but sometimes you need to know what's going on under the hood. Judy
